Now is the time to take a good hard look at LED lighting retrofits. Why? - Improved Quality of LED Products (with warranties) - Off the chart savings potential (1 - 2 year paybacks) The technology of LED lighting products has advanced to the point where the quality of illumination in the better products is the same as with incandescent lighting. With the better quality LED bulbs, you cannot tell the difference. There is, however, a BIG difference in the cost of operation. LED products have a much longer life than comparable incandescent lamps, so there is savings related to both the cost of bulb replacement (average incandescent 2,000 hours vs. average LED 30,000 hours) and the amount of energy consumption. For instance, a 3 watt LED bulb provides the same lumens and quality of illumination as a traditional 20 watt MR 16 (typical halogen bulb); however, the LED bulb uses 85% less energy for the same level of lumens. See the chart below for specifics. An energy saving lighting retrofit does not need to be disruptive to your building.
