Come to the Lower East Side this Saturday to see Solar One at Green Day 2012, a FREE and exciting hands-on environmental education, advocacy and recycling event for the whole family. Event attendees will be able to recycle old textiles and electronics; participate in the exciting Recycling Olympics; learn how to conserve energy and save money on utility bills; walk to the East River and test the water; build mini wind turbines and measure electricity; race solar cars; identify their local tress; learn about green jobs and volunteer opportunities; and discuss current, pressing area and global environmental issues. At 2pm, Solar One's Energy $mart Communities Coordinator will team up with GrowNYC and BeamNY for a special presentation covering recycling and lowering energy bills with information on consumer rights and a free program for moderate-income households to make energy-saving upgrades.
